Serena Williams March 2011 - American tennis star Serena Williams is recovering from a pulmonary embolism and hematoma due to treatment, according to media reports.

To answer these questions and others, WebMD consulted Shafazand Shirin, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine in pulmonary critical care department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Shafazand Williams has not reviewed and does not see her medical records.
Serena Williams Prosecutor issued a statement indicating Williams, "Serena Williams on Monday in rice, undergoing treatment in an emergency to hematoma suffered as a result of treatment of a very critical state."
The statement continued, "Last week, Serena suffer from pulmonary embolism [blood clot in the lungs] to return to Los Angeles to New York because it was the doctor's appointments to continuing problems with her legs to reveal."
Representatives and added: "Doctors are watching the situation and continues to have other complications occur.
