Lindsay Lohan

No, she's not back in jail, but if she plays her cards right, Lindsay Lohan might be hitting the big screen as mobster Victoria Gotti in an upcoming biopic about the New York based crime family.
Details are sparce, but TMZ is reporting that Lohan is in line to play the role of mobster John Gotti's daughter, Victoria, in the film Gotti: Three Generations.  John Travolta is reported to star as the gangster of the same first name. This would be something of a break for Lohan, whose workload has been cut slim by personal and legal troubles...........

Snooki

Deciding to inject a bit more pouf into its lineup, MTV announced today that it has signed Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi to her own yet-to-be-titled spin-off show.
The 12-episode show will chronicle the life of Snooki and her fellow Jersey Shore housemate J-Wow, as the two search for love and deal with the drama of every day life. David Janollari, MTV Head of Programming, said in a statement: “We're excited to put the spotlight on their lives away from the shore as they pursue their individual passions, careers and relationships."
Snooki isn't the only member of the household getting her own spin-off either. MTV is going ahead with plans to produce another show featuring Pauly-D and his attempt to establish himself as a world-renowned DJ..........

Pia Toscano

Well, it's certainly been a roller coaster of a week for Pia Toscano! The American Idol contestant went from being a frontrunner on the show to getting booted off Thursday, and then Friday she landed a record deal.
Pia Toscano (Getty)
The singer, who had never been in the bottom 3 before being forced out of the competition, will release an album under an Interscope Records imprint, reports Us magazine. Apparently Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine is the chair of the imprint.
"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," a source said. "Starting [Thursday] night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing [Friday] morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it.
Toscano was seen smiling around LA on Friday and was photographed arriving at a record studio, so now it's all making sense! The insider added about her upcoming contract: "Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything but she's so excited.....

Helen Mirren Warms Up

"Saturday Night Live" is having a very British month.
Tonight, Helen Mirren takes the stage, on the heels of last week's Elton John show.
John, of course, with his bawdy bravado and seemingly endless tolerance for jokes about his sexuality, was a natural fit with the show.
The esteemed Mirren -- who won an Oscar for playing the Queen of England -- is about as close as "SNL" has ever come to actually having a queen host.
But not to worry. Mirren seems determined to let her hair down, if this deliciously bizarre Funny or Die video -- set up as a "When Harry Met Sally" sequel -- is any indication.

Jennifer Aniston

It's no secret that Jennifer Aniston has been through her fair share of bad experiences in the relationship department (she's "not a big fan" of dating), so the actress is grateful for the group of really awesome friends who've helped her through them all.
Jennifer Aniston (Getty)
"Where would you be without friends?" she said (via Us magazine). "The people to pick you up when you need lifting? We come from homes far from perfect, so you end up almost parent and sibling to your friends -- your own chosen family. There’s nothing like a really loyal, dependable, good friend. Nothing."
So, with a list of pals that includes Chelsea Handler and Courteney Cox, who's her best friend? She can't pick! "So many, I couldn't do that," she says. "I'll say me....

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is smokin' hot at 41. The mom of 2 still flaunts her midriff, wears dresses as tight as Kim Kardashian's and even higher heels, and is an overall bombshell -- but, she doesn't always feel that way. The singer says it's easy for her, and women in general, to forget their self-worth so she has a few tricks of her own to keep feeling good about herself.
Jennifer Lopez (Getty)
She said: “I know it’s hard for women to tap into that feeling of self-worth. We need to get the message out that you are valued, you are a goddess and don’t forget that. It’s about stopping those thoughts of negativity and insecurity. I think changing that and really recognizing yourself triggers control of how you feel, so you’re able to go, ‘No, I’m awesome man, I’m amazing, there’s nobody like me.’ I think that’s the big secret to body confidence......

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson was a relatively unknown actor before landing the role of a lifetime as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, so the fact that paparazzi now follow his every move is pretty strange -- not to mention annoying. So, he's already plotting how to get the photogs back, when he's a little removed from the spotlight.
Robert Pattinson (Bauer Griffin)
The British heartthrob told Elle.com: “You know, when the whole thing dries up and there's hardly any paparazzi around - I don't know, in 15 years or something - I like the idea of just one paparazzo coming out and trying to get a picture, and I just beat the s**t out of him. I mean - out of nowhere - when my picture's not even worth anything … and I've spent all my money, so you can't sue me.....

Fergie

It's been 5 years since Fergie Ferg put out her first solo album, The Dutchess, and it might be another 5 before she releases a followup. The Black Eyed Peas singer has decided to take some time off from her singing to focus on her ongoing projects, and her husband Josh Duhamel.
Josh Duhamel (Getty)
I've got a lot on my plate and this year is more about simplifying and really paying attention to the projects that I have on my plate and spending some time with the hubby, you know?" she said (via Us magazine).
Perhaps the time-out is because she wants to start a family! In 2009 she said: "Am I getting broody? Oh, definitely! But I want to finish this tour first before I start a family........

Anne Hathaway

Now that all of the post-Oscars crap talking has ended, Anne Hathaway (coined the hyper, frustrated host next to James Franco), has opened up about how she really loved the experience.
She said on the Today show: “The experience was so big. The bigness of it was so overwhelming. But at the same time I felt so much joy to get to be a part of movie history. You know, the critics were tough. They said we were the worst show ever. I think that qualifies as tough.
The failed chemistry between a very theatrical Hathaway and a very stoned -- or tired -- Franco set off a media fire of criticism. But regardless of their half-awkward performance, Hathaway says she's just proud to say she was an Oscars host in the first place......

Mariska Hargitay

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay has an exciting new addition to her family: She and husband Peter Hermann have adopted a 1-week-old daughter, Amaya Josephine.
According to People, Hargitay and Hermann asked their 4-year-old son August for help naming their new baby girl. "I threw out my name and he threw out his name and I said, 'August, why do you get to name the baby?' And he said, because it's my idea.
Hargitay gushed of her new daughter, "We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are bery excited that we are not a multi-racial family. We're just so happy she's here........

Kim Cattrall

Warning for the ladies: playing a maneater on a hit TV show will not help your love life. Kim Cattrall, who played the infamous man-a-nizing Samantha on Sex and the City, says her alter-ego drives men away.
The single 50-something actress told Ellen DeGeneres: “It's very difficult... Writing a book about the female orgasm didn't help my dating career either! Men like to think that they know it all, especially in that department.
Her new role in Meet Monica Velour -- as an ageing porn star who turns to stripping -- might not help her attract already intimidated men. But Cattrall describes the story line as a sweet one...

Nicole Richie

She issued a statement about the buzz (via Us magazine): "Contrary to recent speculation, I am not pregnant. This irresponsible reporting continues to feed an atmosphere of self-doubt and insecurity. To publicly point out a change in anyone's body is mean spirited and cruel. People's bodies change and change again. This is not newsworthy and is a waste of valuable media space that should be used for more important issues......
The star and Joel Madden already have two kids, Harlow and Sparrow, and might have more kids down the line, but certainly not anytime soon.......

Modern Family Both Planning Lady Gaga

Do television fans love Lady Gaga as much as music fans? Gaga's upcoming Glee tribute is so big that the show is being extended a full half hour (sorry Raising Hope), and now Modern Family is getting in on the Gaga love.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell on the hit ABC show, revealed that an upcoming episode will center around a Lady Gaga concert.
Mitchell, my character, wants to go to the Lady Gaga concert, and Cameron is supposed to go with me but he's sick in bed and he's expecting me to stay home and take care of him," he told Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. "And so I kind of, maybe, drug him a little bit so I can sneak out and go to the concert.....

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith Whip

Jaden Smith loves karate, while sister Willow loves to whip her hair, but what Jaden doesn't enjoy so much is coming home to his parents Will and Jada Pinkett kissing and cuddling all over the place.
Jaden, 12, might be growing up quickly, but he's still young enough to be grossed out by his parents' PDA. In an interview with the Italian magazine Grazia, Jada Pinkett spoke about her son's embarassment, saying that her and Will sometimes "get a bit raunchy kissing and cuddling and [Jaden] will tell us to stop it....

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron

No one ever said puppy love had to end dramatically. Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, who ended their five year romance in December, were fine and chummy together at a West Hollywood party on Wednesday.
The former lovers, who celebrated the release of mutual HSM co-star Ashley Tisdale's Sharpay's Fabulous Adventures DVD, were ultra comfortable with each other.
Zac and Vanessa definitely seemed comfortable around each other," an observer told Us. "They didn't seem affectionate or romantic at all, but they were totally relaxed and friendly
Another source added: "They both came out to support Ashley. They knew they would both be there and were fine with it. They really are still friends.....

The Real Housewives

Guess the political (er, social climbing) drama amongst the D.C. housewives wasn't enough to keep America's viewers interested. After just one season, the D.C. branch of the Real Housewives franchise has been canceled.
“We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise," Andy Cohen, Bravo’s executive vice president said. "I wish all our DC Wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity.......

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria is not the first person to flash a nipple on The Late Show with David Letterman, nor will she be the last. But she did raise some eyebrows with the barely there "tuxedo" she wore to appear on the program—especially when she couldn't keep the jacket shut.
Longoria, who is currently promoting her new cookbook Eva's Kitchen, was too busy giggling to realize that one of the buttons on her jacket had popped. Had she been wearing a blouse beneath, it would have been no big deal. But guess who decided to go commando up top................

'Femme Fatale' Becomes Britney Spears' Sixth Number One Album

Britney Spears is once again officially on top. Brit's latest effort, Femme Fatale made a big splash to debut in first place after its first week on the charts, making this her sixth number one album.

Britney moved 276,000 copies of her new album to bury her valiant second-place competitor, Wiz Khalifa, who sold 197,000 copies of Rolling Papers. While the numbers are impressive, they aren't particularly special for Britney, whose 2008 album Circus sold 508,000 copies in its first week.

The Beastie Boys

Yes, Tumblr is growing like crazy. But you know a social media site has arrived when big rock bands start releasing tracks from upcoming albums on your site. The Beastie Boys have a Tumblr blog, where you can listen to the song “Make Some Noise” from their next album.According to Beastie Boy Mike D (who is really a Beastie Man now):This wasn’t really part of the plan, but since this track is out there we wanted to let you hear it here first, or maybe second. EnjoyIn the past, a rock band might have released a song early on Myspace or YouTube. But now, I guess, it’s all about Tumblr. The Beastie Boys offical site redirects to Tumblr, and even their Facebook page points to the Tumblr post....

Military Pay

Summing up: In 1995, in a time of peace, Clinton signed a bill ensuring troops’ pay.
In 2011, fighting three wars, one of which he claimed to enthusiastically support and another he started, Obama is threatening to not pay troops in the field.
But don’t you dare defund Planned Parenthood!!

Bulls whip Celtics

CHICAGO - Derrick Rose envisioned this for the Bulls when training camp started. Now Chicago is close to wrapping up the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
Rose scored 30 points and the Chicago Bulls closed in on the top seed in the Eastern Conference by beating the Boston Celtics 97-81 on Thursday.
The Bulls' 17th win in 19 games put them four games up on Boston and Miami with four to play and eliminated the Heat from getting the No. 1 seed. It also gave them a four-game split with the Celtics.

Karina Smirnoff to Pose Nude in Playboy

Dancing With the Stars' Karina Smirnoff will bear all in May issue of Playboy. A Twitter post this afternoon from Hugh Hefner of all people confirmed this.

"May issue of Playboy is unforgettable with Dancing With The Stars Karina Smirnoff on the cover & nude inside," wrote the octogenarian founder.

Not exactly something we would have predicted, but Karina certainly has the looks. Wonder if Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris vote for her on DWTS ...........

Awesome Pia Toscano Voted Off In "American Idol

American Idol" ended on a very uneasy note tonight as Pia Toscano, one of the show's strongest singers, was sent home.
Jennifer Lopez cried, Steven Tyler snapped, Randy Jackson ranted.
Tyler later told reporters on the post Idol red carpet: "Boys aren't voting, and girls are jealous............

Pia Toscano is a Murderer on American Idol

Pia Toscano murdered Tina Turner's classic "River Deep, Mountain High" on American Idol last night. That's meant as praise by Steven Tyler. she rocked!

"Murderer! Murderer! You killed it!" Steven says.

Not to be confused with butchering it, which would imply a poor effort, Pia Toscano absolutely killed. Her inspiration for taking a page out of Tina's book?

I want to shock everybody," she says, cause I've been doing the whole ballad thing................

American Idol

So you wanna be a rocker, James Durbin? Take a lesson from Iggy Pop  who at age 63 Note: That's like 398 in heroin years pranced shirtless across the "Idol" stage singing his 1986 hit "Real Wild Child."

At some point, even legends become caricatures of themselves. Think "Fat Elvis" or, you know, Britney Spears. But that doesn't mean we don't still heart them. And Iggy gets our props for in true rock and roll spirit not giving a flying * whether he delivered a top-notch performance on a competition show he would've bombed out of back in 1969 anyway. The man is a rock legend and that's why he was there Thursday April 7 night.

Those of you out there who are not necessarily fans of Iggy's seminal band, The Stooges, may have been left shaken and a little confused. It's okay. Just forget it ever happened and keep humming Constantine Maroulis's rendition of "Unchained Melody............

Angelina Jolie's New Tattoo

It may sound like a paint by Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt new partner sooner than a new baby.

What happens when you advocate for "health insurance exchanges

The other legacy party takes your neo-liberal idea and use it to try to privatize Medicare. Pravda:

Starting in 2022, Ryan also would end Medicare as an open-ended entitlement for new retirees and begin slowly raising the age of eligibility from 65 to 67. Instead of getting government-paid benefits, new retirees could choose a private policy on a newly established Medicare exchange. The government would pay “premium support” worth about $8,000 directly to the selected insurance provider, with the wealthiest retirees receiving about a third of that amount.

TLC's 'Extreme Couponing' Stars

I love a good deal as much as the next person ... just not if it requires any sort of legwork. Yes, I'll admit it: I'm a retail snob.

In fact, a few months ago when I saw my best friend pull a small coupon binder out of her purse, I laughed. At her! For wanting to save money while shopping for her family of four!

I'm taking it all back now, because TLC's 'Extreme Couponing' (premieres Wed., April 6, 9PM ET) has made me see the blue light special. Sure the previews show a woman talking about spending time equivalent to a full-time job clipping coupons each week -- hence the "extreme" -- but the louder message is that every little bit makes a difference.

What's that saying? A penny saved is a penny earned? Even Benjamin Franklin realized there's nothing wrong with stashing your cash away for a rainy day. So why is there such a stingy stigma attached to using coupons?

I caught up with two of the show's couponers, Nathan Engels and Jessica Hacker, to hear a little bit more about how and why they started couponing, and they shared a few tips and crazy coupon success stories with me.

"Right after my daughter was born, about two years ago, I was on maternity leave trying to convince my husband I should get to stay home," Jessica shared, "and we just couldn't afford to. We'd just bought a new washer and dryer, and it came with a year's supply of laundry soap. So here I was with this whole booklet full of coupons for free Tide, and I was hooked.................

Leaving FOX Is Something I've Been Thinking About For A Long Time

Alternate, and equally vague, versions of Glenn Beck's departure from FOX came out tonight in the aftermath of today's surprising announcement.
Beck spoke about it at the end of his show tonight, noting that leaving Fox was "something I've been thinking about doing for a long time" before going on to reassure viewers "we will find each other...I will continue to tell the story and I'm going to be showing you."
And then, in typical Beck fashion: "Paul Revere did not get up on the horse and say 'I'm going to be doing this the rest of my life, he got off the horse at some point."
Meanwhile, in an interview with the AP, Roger Ailes seemed to concede the split was mutual and echoed a similar sentiment:
"Half of the headlines say he's been cancelled," Ailes said. "The other half say he quit. We're pretty happy with both of them."
"We felt Glenn brought additional information, a unique perspective, a certain amount of passion and insight to the channel and he did," Ailes said. "But that story of what's going on and why America is in trouble today, I think he told that story as well as could be told. Whether you can just keep telling that story or not ... we're not so sure..........

Heidi Klum Is the Nicest

If you thought the crazy angel wings at the Victoria's Secret fashion show were feats worthy of NASA engineering, you'd be right! Ted Southern, the mastermind behind VS wings and Broadway costumes also designs spacesuits!

In 2009, he won a $100,000 inventors competition for astronaut gloves and ended up with a NASA contract. Now, he spends his day perfecting the gloves and designing suits for commercial-space travel. But back to less techy things...........

Richard Branson launches Virgin Oceanic

Sir Richard Branson may have already branded his Necker Nymph aero submarine with the "Virgin Oceanic" moniker, but he's now finally taken things to the next logical (and ambitious) step. He's just announced a new, full-fledged venture of the same name, which promises to do to nothing short of dive to the deepest part of each of the Earth's five oceans -- all within the next two years, no less. That will be done with the one-manned sub pictured above, which was designed by Graham Hawkes and will be piloted by Chris Welsh on its first dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench later this year -- those two are Branson's partners in the venture, and Branson himself is set to pilot the sub on its second mission to the Puerto Rico Trench. Not surprisingly, one of the team's goals is to set a few world records, but they're also planning to conduct some scientific research along the way, and are already musing about future vehicles that could collect samples and allow for more extensive research. Head on past the break for a teaser video, although we're told it should not be assumed to reflect an actual mission..........

Illegal aliens set to tilt Yakima

In a move that some are saying could provide illegal immigrants with a disproportionate amount of representation in Yakima, Washington, immigrant rights activists are suing the city in an attempt to re-jigger the city’s current voting procedures.

Quietly last week, immigration lawyer Tim Schoenrock filed a law suit against Yakima on behalf of his client, former Democratic Party chairman, Tony Sandoval. The suit alleges that the city has been violating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (which prohibits any voting procedure that results in a discriminatory outcome), by allowing for an at-large City Council voting system that they believe discriminates against the Latino population – which votes at a lower rate than their white counterparts.

“The white population votes at a larger percentage than Latinos thereby over ruling every time the Latino group disagrees with the white vote,” explained Schoenrock.

With Latinos comprising 40 percent of the population, the hope is to have more Latino representation on the City Council, a problem critics say would not be an issue if Latinos actually ran for office more often.

To solve the perceived problem, Sandoval and Schoenrock want to see the city divided into seven equal districts, so that citizens will only be able to elect one council representative per district. This likely would be uncontroversial were there not an effort to ensure that illegals are counted in the districting process..................

Interviews with Frances Bean are rare

Over the past 24 hours, web searches on “frances cobain” and “frances bean cobain” have doubled. Lookups for “frances bean photos” are also jumping. Considering how famous her father was (and how controversial her mother, singer Courtney Love, continues to be), it’s interesting to note that Frances has kept a relatively low profile..

Interviews with Frances Bean are rare, but online queries are not. Of particular interest to Web searchers: her middle name. According to TMZ, she earned the unusual middle name after Kurt saw an image of her on the ultrasound. Kurt allegedly remarked that the as-of-yet unborn Frances looked a bit like a kidney bean. The name stuck..

Frances, like many celebrity children, has famous godparents. Michael Stipe of REM is her godfather and Drew Barrymore is her godmother. She’s interned at Rolling Stone magazine in recent years, but it does not appear that she is focused on journalism at the moment. In 2010, she gave an art show in Los Angeles under a different name, the mysterious moniker of “Fiddle Tim.............

Bomb Threats: Wisconsin News Omits That Katherine Windels

So much for the age of civility and balanced media… when will the leftists at MSNBC or Media Matters cover any of this?
In Wisconsin, a 26-year-old woman has been charged in sending death threats, via emails, to WI Republican senators because of their support of Gov. Scott Walker’s budget bill.

What Wisconsin news sources have conveniently omitted in much of their coverage is that Katherine Windels is a SCHOOL TEACHER..........

Texas A&M Wins NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS -- Scoring, rebounding, even making a key steal, Danielle Adams saved her best game for the biggest stage and brought Texas A&M its first national championship.

Adams scored 22 of her 30 points in a dominating second half and answered the Fighting Irish basket for basket Tuesday night to help Texas A&M bring a title to the former all-male military academy with a thrilling 76-70 victory in front of a pro-Notre Dame crowd.

"I knew they couldn't stop me inside so that's what I did, I took it inside," Adams said.

No one was happier than Gary Blair, the outspoken A&M coach who hadn't been in the Final Four since 1998 when he was with Arkansas. Blair bluntly said it was a good thing that top powers like Connecticut, Tennessee and Stanford weren't in the title game.

"We don't give up," Blair said. "We might not play the prettiest game in the world but it's good for women's basketball to see a Texas A&M and a Notre Dame in this game..............

The Band Perry Rides Big Buzz After ACM Awards

Numerous acts that appeared at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards have generated big search buzz following the telecast, and none has elicited more interest than The Band Perry.

The familial trio, which performed on the show and won for Top New Artist as well as Top New Vocal Duo or Group, enjoyed success last year with smash hit “If I Die Young” (following minor buzz for premiere single “Hip to My Heart”). Currently charting with “You Lie,” the group has been gaining ground at recent country awards shows.

As of 11:40PM, The Band Perry was the most-searched-for term on Google. While post-awards show buzz is no guarantee of long-term success, it should be noted that groups like Lady Antebellum and Sugarland have seen their profiles raised after well-received performances on such broadcasts.

Also charting (in order starting with #2): Steve Perry (perhaps due to confusion about the “Journey” singer’s possible relation to the aforementioned group), Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton..............

University of Connecticut Win the NCAA Championship 2011

The NCAA Championship game is over and University of Connecticut becomes the winner for NCAA Championship 2011. Connecticut beat Butler 53-41 last night at Reliant Stadium in Houston, outscoring the Bulldogs 34-19 during the second half. Butler was held to 19 percent shooting, hitting 12 of 64 shots. The Bulldogs made only three 2- point baskets.
“We knew that we could really defend them,” University of Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun said during the trophy presentation ceremony. “The major adjustment was we were going to out-will them and outwork them, and eventually we outplayed them.”
Congratulations to University of Connecticut, all the players and to Jim Calhoun for his 3rd title with the Huskies.......

Jesse Ventura Wants To Be Ron Paul's Running Mate

Jesse Ventura was on "Good Morning America" today, promoting his new book (and, presumably, leather fringed jackets).
When George Stephanopoulous got tired of hearing Ventura's 9/11 inside-job theories, he asked if Ventura would consider a presidential run in 2012.
Ventura wouldn't. But he'd love to run with the man he dedicated his new book to -- Ron Paul -- on one condition.............

Great Ice Cream Sundae War Celebrated By Google Doodle

Everyone loves Sundays, but this Sunday is particularly special as Google is celebrating the 119th anniversary of the first documented ice cream sundae.
Surprisingly, the ice cream sundae has a controversial past. It is said to have been invented accidentally. The urban tale goes that in more austere times the clergy deemed the popular dessert, ice cream sodas, to be 'too frilly' a food to eat on the Sabbath (naturally a Sunday). So, instead of offering an ice cream soda, ice cream was served with cherries and syrup drizzled on top.

"Some historians claim, but never proven to be true, that the name "sundae" was created in response to the "Blue Laws" which said that ice cream sodas could not be sold on Sundays because they were to "frilly." For some reason the "righteous" very much against what they called "sucking soda" (especially on the Sabbath and the clergy started preaching against them). The dish has gone by other names at various time, most notably "sundi" and "sondhi." Some accounts have explained all these names as attempts to avoid offending the sensibilities of the devoutly religious, which might take a dim view of a pile of ice cream and syrup being named after the Sabbath."

New Adam Sandler Comedy

The onetime rap star is out of the music business, but after a rocky two decades, has landed a major film role. Variety reports that Vanilla Ice, real name: Robert Van Winkle, has been cast in the upcoming Adam Sandler film, "I Hate You Dad."

Ice will play a longtime friend of Sandler, who, in turn, will play Andy Samberg's dad. In the film, Sandler moves in with Samberg and his new fiancee, whom Sandler immediately begins to feud with.

Variety also reports that Leighton Meester, last seen on the big screen in this winter's "The Roommate," and before that, "Country Strong," is in talks for the role of Samberg's bride to be.

Despite Gulf Disaster

Transocean Ltd. gave its top executives bonuses for achieving the "best year in safety performance in our company's history" – despite the explosion of its oil rig that killed 11 people and spilled 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

The company said in a regulatory filing that its most senior managers were given two thirds of their total possible safety bonus.

Transocean noted "the tragic loss of life" in the Gulf when the rig operated by BP PLC exploded last April. But it said the company still had an "exemplary" safety record because it met or exceeded certain internal safety targets concerning the frequency and severity of its accidents, according to the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Safety accounts for a quarter of the executives' total cash bonuses. The total bonus for CEO Steve Newman last year was $374,062..........

Japan Nuclear Plant: 2 Missing Fukushima Workers Found Dead

A massive tsunami that crippled a nuclear power plant also killed two workers there, the Japanese operator announced Sunday, confirming the first deaths at the complex.

The two workers – a 21-year-old and a 24-year-old – had been missing since a massive March 11 earthquake spawned the wave, but their bodies were discovered only last week. Engineers have been scrambling to restore power to the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex in order to restart cooling systems and stabilize dangerously overheating reactors.

"It pains me that these two young workers were trying to protect the power plant while being hit by the earthquake and tsunami," Tokyo Electric Power Co. Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata said in a statement.

Kentucky Basketball

Apr 1, 2011 - Much like Duke last season, Kentucky basketball was supposed to be a year away from making a Final Four run, especially after Enes Kanter was ruled ineligible. The Wildcats lack a true blow-by point guard and a credible post threat, not to mention they're the youngest team in the March Madness field of 68. Fortunately for Big Blue Nation, the pundits underestimate Coach Calipari's coaching acumen when making their predictions, while opponents of the Wildcats do so at their own peril.

Say what you want to say about the controversial UK coach. Lament his recruiting tactics, criticize his one and done philosophy of building a program, but don't discount the fact that Coach Cal can flat out coach. Whether he's coaching superstars or journeymen players, Cal gets the best out of his teams on both ends of the floor, especially the defensive end. This Calipari coached club is no different. They are choc-full of McDonald's all-Americans and future NBA players, yet they still guard like a group of Div II overachievers who'll be driving UPS trucks four years from now......

WAS EDDIE MURPHY THE ORIGINAL MODEL FOR DREAMWORKS FACE?

The top half of the banner picture comes from Cracked, who the other day had a great list about actors who make the same face in every movie, one of them being Eddie Murphy.  This led us to wonder: Was Eddie Murphy the original model for Dreamworks Face™?  I say no.  Not toothy enough.  But it’s definitely his “I wonder if that’s a tranny” face.

4-2-11 GDT: Rays, Orioles, Rematch

The Tampa Bay Rays will take on the Baltimore Orioles for the second game of the season today. On Opening Day yesterday, the Rays young ace, left-handed pitcher David Price, took the loss, allowing 4 run through 7 otherwise strong innings. Today, the Rays send last year's ace and team work horse James Shields to the mound.

In 2010, James Shields had a poor earned run average (ERA) of 5.18, despite pitching over 200 innings for the 4th consecutive season. The Rays management is confident, however, last year was a fluke, noting how his peripheral statistics (strikeout, walks, ground ball percentages, etc.) were largely unchanged from previous years.

Opposing Shields on the mound today will be young right-handed pitcher Chris Tillman, who turns 23 later this month. Tillman, who has seen limited starts for the Orioles over the last two years, will look to translate his strong minor league numbers into major league success. His career ERA is 5.61 in just over 100 innings..............

preview: LCD Soundsystem’s Final Show @ MSG Tonight

OMFG! While our illustrious editor-in-chief is busy getting his untz on down in LA tonight, I’ll be at MSG for LCD Soundsystem’s final concert!

Despite all the utter nonsense involved with their ticketing fiasco and through some utter stroke of beginner’s luck, my lovely wife scored two tickets to LCD Soundsystem tonight at MSG and it’s just now hitting me how stoked I am for this show. Although I’ve been an LCD fan for years, their last album, This Is Happening, really hit my ears in the sweet spot. It was basically at the top of my list of favorite albums from 2010, and despite totally overplaying it since last spring, I still haven’t gotten tired of listening to it.

By the way, if you’re ticket-less–which I usually am for these big shows–or you don’t live in NYC, keep in mind that you’re not totally shit-out-of-luck. Pitchfork will be webcasting the show in its entirety. Hell, given my shitty 300-level upper deck seats, you might even get better sound and visuals than me from the comfort of your own couch..................

NCAA Final Four Open Thread

There are three games left in the college basketball season (who knows if one of those CBI knockoffs is still going -- if only there were some way to figure that out.  Oh well.), and two of them are tonight. Here they are, with my rooting interests in bold.

GAME THE FIRST: (8) Butler vs. (11) VCU -- If only there were a way both teams could win this game.  I'm throwing my support behind VCU for three reasons: I love how the Rams rock the gold and black, Shaka Smart is one heckuva name, and watching Butler in a Final Four game is going to give me sad flashbacks to last year.

GAME THE SECOND: (4) Kentucky vs. (3) Connecticut -- If only there were a way both teams could lose this game.  I can't see myself rooting for either team in this game; I do not give a rat's patoot who wins.  I've got nothing positive to say here, so I might as well keep my mouth shut.....

Chris Rock Complains About The Mets On Letterman

Thursday was the opening day for the 2011 Major League Baseball season, but Chris Rock doesn't appear to be very excited.

Appearing on the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Thursday night, Rock talked about being a fan of the New York Mets.

"My team is broke Dave," he said. "Some teams don't have a cleanup hitter. Some teams don't have a closer or a good pitcher. My team has no money, Dave."

He also said that he appreciates the Yankees, but rooting for them would be like "rooting for Steve Jobs to hit the lotto or something."

Rock went on to say that second base in Citi Field will be a manhole cover this year. Scroll down to watch the video............

Inside The Minds Of The Creators Of 'Insidious'

When I was asked to cover the “Insidious” press junket, screening, and Q&A, I had to think twice.  I am not the gal that lines up for the latest film offerings in horror and the paranormal.  Add the fact that the writer and director are from the “Saw” franchise and I paused even longer.  Little did I know that “Insidious” would be a great departure from bloody series of “Saw.”  Over the course of three days, I was able to interview director James Wan, writer Leigh Whannell, and actors Barbara Hershey and Lin Shaye.

The look and feel of the movie is big budget, so it was shocking to learn from Wan that the budget came in around “$800,000 and it was shot over a course of 22 days.”  Wan and Whannell really wanted to keep “Insidious” small because they felt like there were too many fingerprints on their last film, “Dead Silence.”  In order to keep the studio from meddling, they made sure it was done as a true indie film.  Wan even “cut the film in his bedroom on a Mac using Final Cut Pro.”  I am not sure how much more indie you can get after I heard that.............

Insidious Review

Insidious is terrifying in a completely different way than most horror movies. While the genre continues to creep toward exorcisms, thrill killers and the mentally deranged, Insidious finds its inspiration in long-forgotten side shows and unnerving pseudoscience fiction stories that blend homemade gadgets and the supernatural. It’s not out to scare viewers as much as it is to creep them out. With a throwback title card, off-putting score and a team of good-natured demon hunters you might run into at a church flea market, the film is like watching a bearded lady rotate sentences between a Philip K Dick short story and an H.P. Lovecraft weird tale. I’m still not sure exactly what I watched, but something tells me it’s worth recommending.................

Series Preview: Seattle Mariners Oakland Athletics

These might morph a little bit as the season goes on. I haven't hit upon any obvious improvements I want to make over how they ended last season, but I am rarely ever satisfied with the status quo. To the new people or those who forgot how these work over the off season here's a quick rundown.

At the beginning of each series I will grab the current team ratings and rank in a variety of categories that I feel best encapsulate the four talent areas. The offense rating comes from park-adjusted wOBA as listed on StatCorner. Similarly the rotation and bullpens come from park-adjusted tRA as seen on StatCorner. The fielding is always the stickiest wicket but for now will remain the weekly updated UZR on FanGraphs. I'd ultimately like to get something that updated daily, but none of the systems that do that are centered until after the season ends.

The first column will list the current amount of runs above or below average that the Mariners are in each category along with their rank out of 30 teams. The second column (Δ Ms) will show the increase or decrease since the beginning of the last series. The third column is a repeat of the first but for our opponent and finally the Edge column is simply a comparison between the two teams..............

NCIS star Perrette makes music with Navy veteran

NCIS” star Pauley Perrette met a new music partner on the show’s set, but it took a church visit for the pair to see their potential.
The result is “Fire in Your Eyes,” an R&B-pop duet with Perrette and B. Taylor, a Navy veteran with a fledgling recording career. The single is set for iTunes release May 3 by Universal Music Group’s Bungalo Records, Taylor’s spokeswoman, Belinda Foster, said Friday.
Perrette and Taylor were introduced when he paid a visit to CBS‘ legal drama about Naval investigators, invited by a friend who’s an adviser to the series.
The two hit it off and she invited him to attend her church, Hollywood United Methodist. Their time together inspired Taylor to write “Fire in Your Eyes.” A music video is planned.

Five questions: Colorado Rockies

Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez, that’s what. Both players saw their stock as baseball players rise to meteoric levels.

In 2010, Tulowitzki won his first Gold Glove award. Baseball Info Solutions gave him its Fielding Bible Award. He didn’t captivate the world just with his glove. He garnered much of his attention from his Ruthian September, in which he hit 15 home runs and had 40 RBI. Only Babe Ruth himself had a better singular month than Tulo.

The beautiful thing about him is that he is just 26 years old, and he plays a stellar shortstop. Health permitting, he should be considered the best overall shortstop in baseball. If you look at his 10-year $157.75 million contract, one should think that the Rockies got an incredible bargain on such a magnificently gifted athlete. He always will face doubters who question his ability to stay healthy, but he will never face doubters of his talents and abilities. His signing gives the Rocks a name they can build their franchise around. Denver isn’t a huge edifice of baseball, but the foresight and fortitude to find the cash to lock down a superstar of Tulowitzki’s caliber should be applauded, especially in a market dominated by the Northeast.

Don’t fall asleep on Gonzalez. Just recently George Karl of the Denver Nuggets, of all places, compared the “smoothness” of CarGo to that of the great Roberto Clemente. Where Karl errs in that comparison is that Gonzalez hit 34 home runs in 2010. Clemente’s career high for a single season was 29. Another possible difference is in that oh-so-lovely stolen base department. Gonzalez stole 26 bases in 2010; Clemente never swiped more than 12 in a single season. The batting average compares nicely. Gonzalez hit .336 last year, and Clemente was a career .317 hitter.............

Google Plays With Helvetica, Comic Sans For April Fools' 2011 Gag

Google is getting funny with fonts in honor of April Fools' day.

The search engine has pulled out a slew of pranks, from launching Gmail Motion to posting notice of its need for an autocompleter.

It's also playing fast and loose with fonts in a gag that's sure to please typography buffs: Google Helvetica, and you'll see a page of search results that appear entirely in Comic Sans. Search for Comic Sans, and the results are all in Comic Sans.

Note that Googling Wingdings or Courier doesn't produce the same results......

Three Up Three Down: Why the Phillies Will/Won't Win the East

As any Yankees fan can tell you, the problem with sky-high expectations is that they leave you with only two possible outcomes: satisfaction or disappointment. If, like me, you feel that a large element of a baseball fan’s joy is the game’s potential to surprise and delight--to give you more than you might reasonably hope for--the idea of "World Series or bust" might not seem all that appealing. Our surprise and delight came on that December night when the rumors gave way to fact that Cliff Lee once again was a Phillie; but as soon as he signed, the story of the 2011 season transformed into "World Series or bust."

Now, my belief is that any predictions made when it’s consistently 40-50 degrees but with warmer weather presumably on the way, about which two ballclubs will be left standing when the thermometer returns to that range on a downward trajectory, are an affront to the baseball gods—whom we’re trying to appease, after all. So I’m not going there. But it feels a bit safer, and probably more interesting anyway, to speculate on which teams might play into October. And maybe the exercise counters that expectations problem; it wasn’t so long ago that most of us would have been beyond thrilled with one division championship, so the idea that we’d shrug the Phillies’ fifth straight NL East title like we’re entitled to it doesn't, and shouldn't, sit very well..........

Versace Model Killed In Hit-And-Run

Model Eric Zentner, 30, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Buellton, California over the weekend, Fox40.com reports.

Zentner is believed to have gotten out of his car after running out of gas and started walking. He was reportedly en route to visit his mother in Sacramento. He was struck around 3:45 a.m. by a light blue, '90s Dodge Caravan. There are no suspects in custody and California Highway Patrol officers are looking for tips.

His cousin Zach Zentner told the local news station, "I've thought about that a lot. I just wonder what their situation is. I hope they can bring it to themselves to come forward and admit it to themselves. They need to do something about this and say 'this is what happened.'"

Eric was best-known for his work with Versace, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs and for a cameo in Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" music video.

Federal Reserve Lent To Gaddafi-Owned Bank

At a time when credit markets shunned even the most worthy borrowers, foreign banks, including one partly-owned by Muammar Gaddafi's Libya, fled to the Federal Reserve and borrowed at rock-bottom interest rates, Fed documents released Thursday show.
During the height of the financial crisis in the fall of 2008, as investors and firms hoarded cash, the Fed reduced its rates to kickstart lending in the broader economy. Arab Banking Corp., a $28 billion lender now 59 percent-owned by Libya's central bank, borrowed at least $3.2 billion during this time. The Fed charged it an interest rate ranging from 2.25 percent to as low as 1.25 percent on those borrowings, regular Fed data show.

Grey's Anatomy's' Sara Ramirez gives props to her singing cast mates

The "Grey's Anatomy" music event is finally airing Thursday (March 31) and we'll finally see if Callie pulls through after a car accident that left her with several life-threatening injuries. Yet, whatever happens to her character, Sara Ramirez is still thrilled by the genre-crossing episode.

"It was very exciting, ['Grey's' creator Shonda Rhimes] has been wanting to do this since the show started," Ramirez tells Access Hollywood Live.

Tony award-winning Ramirez is quite the accomplished singer and just released an 8-song EP available on iTunes now. Yet despite all her experience, she says she still gets nervous when she performs.

"I get nervous every time [I sing] because I care," she says. "I think the day that you're not nervous, is the day you should start doing something else."

While Ramirez's character is the focus of this episode, many of her cast mates lend their voices to some of our favorite "Grey's" classics including songs by The Fray and Snow Patrol, among others and she says fans will be surprised to hear how good everyone else sings.

"It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase some peoples' talents," she says. "I think the surprise is about the people we don't know who can sing... We have great voices in our cast, I'm really proud of everybody...

Bill Moyers Eyes a Possible Return to PBS

Bill Moyers’ retirement from weekly television last year may not last long. He has received preliminary approval for a major grant to return to PBS with a half-hour show with the working title “Something Different With Bill Moyers.”
The Carnegie Corporation of New York, in an announcement this week on its Web site (the release has since been changed to remove references to Mr. Moyers), said its board had voted to give Mr. Moyers’ production company a $2 million, 29-month grant for the show.
Susan King, the foundation’s vice president of external relations, said the program was conceived as a venue for bipartisan debate of major issues of the day, like education reform and immigration. She cautioned, however, that even though the grant has been approved by the board, it is not yet final........

Woot

Because I'm pretty much in constant pain (but thanks to my friend Carly, a pharmacist, and let me know that I can take two Vicodin at night as well, because I sleep very well last night, and wake up time only. Aan'n, and I think it because I snore , but you're snoring, because I was sleeping like a baby friggin for the first time period.) and I figured it would be easier to T 'deal with the pain, if you can look at something and say: "Well, I'm just dealing with the" x "weeks / days ".
We'll see how it operates.
This evening, I went to dinner with my mom's friends the steering wheel, and we are going to a Mexican restaurant with good margaritas. I know from experience that it absorbs the Virgin Margarita (this is what you have learned during pregnancy), but perhaps they have improved in the past four years. Fingers crossed. Will be able to magic pills night again.
(And should not be a little house and I plan to start a Vicodin addiction view it after the surgery, so I do not scare me not to take anymore...
Oh, and technically supposed to be rejoicing the birth of the timer, but I figured, I eat the cake if it is over, so it works.

DODGERS' KERSHAW TOO MUCH FOR CHAMPION GIANTS

LOS ANGELES - Making his first opening-day start, Clayton Kershaw showed why the Dodgers have been so high on him for three years.

The left-hander struck out nine in seven dominant innings and Matt Kemp scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by catcher Buster Posey in the sixth, sending Los Angeles to a 2-1 victory over the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants on Thursday night.

"He did really well out there, pounding the zone," Giants starter Tim Lincecum said. "Obviously, you could see he's got some really filthy stuff.......

Ocelot : What is Ocelot

Ocelot is a sleek animal with a gorgeous dappled coat and twice the size of the average house cat. These largely nocturnal cats use keen sight and hearing to hunt rabbits, rodents, iguanas, fish, and frogs. They also take to the trees and stalk monkeys or birds. Unlike many cats, they do not avoid water and can swim well.Like other cats, ocelots are adapted for eating meat. They have pointed fangs used to deliver a killing bite, and sharp back teeth that can tear food like scissors. Ocelots do not have teeth appropriate for chewing, so they tear their food to pieces and swallow it whole. Their raspy tongues can clean a bone of every last tasty morsel.
Many ocelots live under the leafy canopies of South American rain forests, but they also inhabit brushlands and can be found as far north as Texas. These cats can adapt to human habitats and are sometimes found in the vicinity of villages or other settlements. Female ocelots have litters of two or three darkly colored kittens. In northern locations females den in the autumn, while in tropical climes the breeding season may not be fixed.
Ocelots’ fine fur has made them the target of countless hunters, and in many areas they are quite rare, including Texas, where they are endangered. Ocelots are protected in the United States and most other countries where they live.
