DODGERS' KERSHAW TOO MUCH FOR CHAMPION GIANTS


LOS ANGELES - Making his first opening-day start, Clayton Kershaw showed why the Dodgers have been so high on him for three years.

The left-hander struck out nine in seven dominant innings and Matt Kemp scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by catcher Buster Posey in the sixth, sending Los Angeles to a 2-1 victory over the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants on Thursday night.

"He did really well out there, pounding the zone," Giants starter Tim Lincecum said. "Obviously, you could see he's got some really filthy stuff.......
