It's been over a decade but today history was made with the government finally privatising the public phone company, BTC, by selling 51% to Cable & Wireless.
As expected the vote was 22 Yes and 18 No. Every Opposition MP voted against.
Today marks a positive new beginning for The Bahamas.
Which government albatross is next? BEC? Bahamasair? Education? There's so many to choose from.
I'm not one for complimenting governments as a rule, it's easier to criticise bad public policy, but this deserves a hip, hip, hooray.....
