Cities in transition as the movement began in Engeland'n a few years ago and now has more than 500 communities around the world are working on initiatives in transition. Communities struggling economies in the face of economic recession, job losses and higher energy prices, peak oil, food security, and the loss of a healthy environment began to work towards local solutions, rather than waiting for external forces to "save" it. They are busy with the capacity of communities that can keep communities together, and work and prosper in the face of change and shocks from abroad.
